Term One - Back to School - MP

We all started back to school the very last week of January. Lynn earned a Long Term Relief position at Takapuna Grammar School teaching science and biology for term one. Suddenly she is very busy prepping work and marking. I returned to Onehunga High School to teach maths and coach the senior boys volleyball team. Classes are great. It's busy with 2 practices and one game night each week.

Jonah and Siena are back to their schools. They are enjoying their classes and teachers. Jonah is looking forward to Year Eight camp next week and Siena has a School Fair this Saturday that we plan to attend.

Both kids have signed up for Parkour lessons on Monday night juat north from here in Albany. They jump and run around on big boxes and walls for a hour. It burns some of their energy.

We try to spend our weekends doung new, exciting things. The weather during February hasn't really cooperated until this weekend. It's been really warm but with lots of rain. We were abke to sneak over to Bethel's Beach for a swim!

To celebrate Lynn's birthday, the family went paragliding. It was phenomenal. Siena choose not to participate but Jonah, Lynn and I had a great time. Reuben was our instructor. He took each of us on a tandem paraglide over the west coast.

We watched a cricket match between New Zealand and Australia. It was exciting since it was a T20 game which is much shorter than a Test Match. Lots of hitting! We also watched the taping of two episodes of The Family Feud - New Zealand with the host Dai Henwood. It was fun to be a part of the taping but it was extremely hot in the studio since the A/C wasn't working.

March is just around the corner. Autumn begins and before we know it Term 1 will be over.

All the best,

MP

Starting Year 5 - SP

Starting Year 5

On Wednesday 31st January Jonah and I started Year 8 and Year 5. I am in Room 5 in Year 5, what a coincidence!

My teacher is Miss Hodgson she is very nice, kind, active, creative, awesome and fantastic even though she can be strict. Almost every morning after the attendance we get to do fitness. Fitness is running and playing games that are active. Do you know the game The Wall is? If you don’t, I will try to explain. The wall is a game where there are two teams the wall/taggers and the runners. The people on the wall have to face different ways. So for example one person would face south and the next person in line would face north and it keeps on going. Everyone on the runner team can go through the wall the taggers can’t. The taggers have to tag someone on their teams back then they run you take their place. One runner at a time will try not to get tagged if they do the next runner goes. We only get to do it in Year 5 and 6.

I have many friends in my class they are all fun. On every other Thursday I have a senior syndicate assembly to go over things. Every Friday I have a school assembly with everyone.

In reading we have to take in our own book and or books I am bringing in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows I am sure you know the book.

I don’t have all the stationary for this year because it is just a waste of money because I am only in Year five for term one.
